Sunday, November 1, 2009. The Miami Dolphins again defeated the New York Jets this time by a score of 30-25. The Jets special teams were awful including two consecutive kick off returns for touchdowns. A Jet fumble led to another Dolphin touchdown. The Jets offense was actually good as was the defense. Sunday, October 18, 2009. Week 6. The New York Jets were supposed to win this one. The Buffalo Bills had not beaten an AFC East opponent since December 2007. But the Jets offense was awful and Mark Sanchez worse, throwing five interceptions on the afternoon. The Bill’s gave the Jets a second chance by missing a 46 yard field goal at the end of regulation time. The Jets won the toss, but could not capitalize. And this time the Bills did not miss, with Rian Lindel kicking an overtime 47 yard field goal to win 16-13. Many are questioning why Rex Ryan did not pull Sanchez out in the second half. Sunday, October 12, 2009. Week 5. It was a fairly ordinary football game for three quarters. The New York Jets led the Miami Dolphins 13-10. But the fourth quarter was anything but ordinary. It became a wild and wooly affair, with five touchdowns scored. Unfortunately, Miami scored the last one with six seconds left and won the game 31-27. The Jets did benefit in the fourth quarter from a very generous defense pass interference call at the goal line. On the next play, the Jets ran it in. Chad Henne was outstanding for Miami, completing 20 of 26 passes for 241 yards and 2 touchdowns. He is already being touted by many as Miami’s quarterback of the future today. In total, the Dolphins got 413 yards-262 passing and 151 rushing. Sanchez was also excellent, completing 12 of 24 for 171 yards. The total Jets offense was 309 yards-171 passing & 138 rushing. Sanchez has taken a liking to his new teammate Braylon Edwards, just acquired from the Browns. He had five receptions for 64 yards and 1 touchdown. Sunday, October 4, 2009. The New York Jets lost to the New Orleans Saints 24-10, their first loss of the season. The defense played an overall excellent game but was hurt by rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez’s four turnovers, including three interceptions. Sunday, September 27, 2009. the New York Jets defeated the Tennessee Titans 24-17 this Sunday afternoon. The new and improved Jets defense had given back their 14 point lead and things were starting to look bleak. In fact, the Jets defense gave up 17 straight points. Mark Sanchez had his moments as well, including two fumbles and a fourth quarter fumble. But in the first quarter, Sanchez ran 14 yards for an early touchdown. The Jets came back with a touchdown in the third quarter; Jay Feely added a field goal in the fourth quarter and the defense came back and held the Titans to 17 points. Sunday, September 20, 2009. The New York Jets, who really weren’t in the first half of the game, came to life in the second half to defeat the New England Patriots 16-9. Mark Sanchez only threw five times in the first half, completing three for fifteen yards but finished the game 14 for 22 for 163 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. The Jets defensive was outstanding again, keeping pressure of Tom Brady throughout the game. The Jets defense has not allowed a touchdown in their first two games. Sunday, September 13, 2009. The Jets defense was outstanding and Sanchez’s passing was spot on (well, except once) as the New York Jets went on to handily defeat the Houston Texans 24-7 in Houston this afternoon. The Jets controlled from the game from start to finish. The defense held the Texan offense to 38 yards rushing and 145 yards passing for only 183 total yards. Sanchez threw 31 passes, completing 18 for 272 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Jets also rushed for 190 yards giving them 462 total yardage. For more on this game, see this article.
The NY Jets, already eliminated from the playoffs, finished their season by losing to the Miami Dolphins 24-17. Brett Favre added to his record by throwing for 3 more interceptions. If you need to know more, try this article.
