Jets Defeat Titans

Sunday, September 27, 2009. the New York Jets defeated the Tennessee Titans 24-17 this Sunday afternoon. The new and improved Jets defense had given back their 14 point lead and things were starting to look bleak. In fact, the Jets defense gave up 17 straight points. Mark Sanchez had his moments as well, including two fumbles and a fourth quarter fumble. But in the first quarter, Sanchez ran 14 yards for an early touchdown. The Jets came back with a touchdown in the third quarter; Jay Feely added a field goal in the fourth quarter and the defense came back and held the Titans to 17 points. Next game, Sunday, October 4th, 4:05 PM v. New Orleans Saints.

Sanchez on Injury Report

The New York Jets have placed rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez on the injury report as his knee was bothering him. Reported as ” a little tendinitis” in his right knee, the Jets are playing cautious since being fined for Brett Favre’s allegations that he was playing hurt the end of last season but the Jets did not report it. Head coach Rex Ryan has stated that Sanchez will start against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. For more on the current status of Jets injuries, see this story.

Jets Shock Patriots 16-9

Sunday, September 20, 2009. The New York Jets, who really weren’t in the first half of the game, came to life in the second half to defeat the New England Patriots 16-9. Mark Sanchez only threw five times in the first half, completing three for fifteen yards but finished the game 14 for 22 for 163 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. The Jets defensive was outstanding again, keeping pressure of Tom Brady throughout the game. The Jets defense has not allowed a touchdown in their first two games. Sanchez Shines in Debut for Jets

Sunday, September 13, 2009. The Jets defense was outstanding and Sanchez’s passing was spot on (well, except once) as the New York Jets went on to handily defeat the Houston Texans 24-7 in Houston this afternoon. The Jets controlled from the game from start to finish. The defense held the Texan offense to 38 yards rushing and 145 yards passing for only 183 total yards. Sanchez threw 31 passes, completing 18 for 272 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Jets also rushed for 190 yards giving them 462 total yardage. For more on this game, see this article.
